Deputy Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu has reiterated Sudanese government's commitment to achieving peace in the country, the council said on Tuesday.

A new round of peace talks began in South Sudan's capital Juba on Tuesday between the Sudanese government and armed groups.

Daqlu promised that the government will not let down the sons of the Sudanese people and leaders of the armed struggle, who are aspiring for peace, according to a statement issued by the council.

"The government is determined to achieve peace sooner or later," said Daqlu.

South Sudan has been mediating between the Sudanese government and the armed groups from Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions to reach a peace deal.

On October 14, South Sudan hosted in Juba its last round of peace talks attended by the Sudanese government and armed factions.
