At least one person died, 12 others injured, and two others are still missing after a fire broke out on the Russian Navy's sole aircraft carrier on Thursday, according to recent reports.

"The fire occurred during repair works in the first power unit, and a thick plume of black smoke is seen from the upper deck," Russia's TASS news agency reported.

Rescue operations are underway.
