Israel is set to have a third general election in a year. Lawmakers voted on Wednesday to dissolve parliament to pave the way for a March poll. It comes as talks between embattled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rival broke down ahead of a midnight deadline. Two general elections this year have failed to provide either with the right kind of numbers to form a government coalition. Both leaders said they wanted to avoid another costly election campaign that could once again prove indecisive. However, neither has been willing to compromise on their core demands for a power-sharing agreement.
