December 13, 2019, marks the 82nd anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre. In February 2014, China's top legislature designated the date as "National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims" and a national memorial ceremony has been held annually on December 13 ever since.

As the memorial day approaches, people from all walks of life in China are holding memorial ceremonies to mourn the 300,000 victims of the Nanjing Massacre in 1937. Students in Handan, north China's Hebei Province used paper cranes to pay homage to the victims on Thursday.

Primary school students in Lianyugang, east China's Jiangsu Province, form the date of "December 13" on the playground to remember the historical event and promote peace.
