With the concept of "bookstore plus" getting more and more popular, young people in China are looking for nice-looking bookstores to read and relax, becoming trending places.

Now, colleges in Shanghai are also embracing this concept. This means that the public also has more choices.

Two 24-hour bookstores opened on Thursday at the campus of East China Normal University, in Minhang District, Shanghai. They are open for free to the students and the public.

The two bookstores, named "Zhixian Tang" and "Zhaowen Zhai,"  were decorated with landscaping designs from ancient Chinese gardens. An eight-meter wall full of books is the most eye-catching part. Looking from different corners, visitors can see quite different views.

There is also an area for intangible cultural heritage exhibitions in Zhixian Tang, and cultural products would be showcased regularly.

"Students can experience the life of the ancient scholars in the bookstore," said Tian Zhaoyuan, professor of School of Social Development of the East China Normal University. "The bookstore values high of cultivating the students' qualities and characteristics through such an immersive environment."

"Zhaowen Zhai" provides an area for students and faculties of the university to pursue their academic studies. All the seats are separated and equipped with computers, earphones, and table lamps.

According to the university, the two bookstores are operated by a students' startup team led by folklore professor Zhang Hailan, who promised to allow more public to benefit from the cultural facilities.
