At least four people, including a six-year-old girl, have died, and several others injured after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Mindanao in the Philippines on Sunday, confirmed a local official. Vincent Fernandez, mayor of Matanao town in the southern Philippines, told local radio the girl was killed when a wall collapsed on her during the powerful quake.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake struck an area about six kilometers northwest of Padada town in Davao del Sur province.
The Davao region has been hit by several earthquakes in recent months, causing deaths and injuries and damaging houses, hotels, malls and hospitals.
