More than 10 galleries and auction houses featuring ancient or contemporary Chinese art will participate in Asia Week New York next year, where a total of 37 international galleries and six auction houses including Bonhams, Christie's, Doyle and many more, will celebrate Asian art and culture in various events.

Now in its 11th edition, Asia Week New York will offer a non-stop round of gallery open houses, auction sales, exhibitions, lectures, symposia and special events from March 12 through 19 next year. Some participants will remain open until March 21.

Katherine Martin, Asia Week New York chairwoman, said a vital new goal of Asia Week New York is to increase and invigorate educational initiatives by tapping into the vast knowledge of exhibitors and coordinating additional programing with some of New York City's finest cultural institutions.

"With the best-informed minds in Asian art convening in New York in March, we can expand our lecture program so that even more attendees can partake in a dynamic exchange of ideas within the various collecting sectors," she said.|

Apart from Chinese art, Indian, Himalayan, Southeast Asian, Japanese and Korean art will all be represented by different organizations.

To celebrate the week's festivities, a private, invitation-only reception, jointly hosted by Asia Week and the Department of Asian Art of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will take place in the museum's art galleries.

To cater to the needs of Chinese-speaking buyers and audiences, a Chinese version of the event website will be available by February next year.
