The Chinese men's team suffered their second consecutive defeat in the EAFF E-1 Football Championship after they lost to South Korea 1-0 on Sunday.

South Korea's skipper Kim Min-jae scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute when he overpowered his Chinese marker to head in a corner kick from teammate Ju Se-jong.

One minute earlier, the hosts came close to scoring as Hwang Inbeom rattled the bar with a long shot from outside of the area.

China, who lost to Japan 2-1 in their first match of the tournament, created only two shots, both by striker Dong Xuesheng. He first shot wide in the 10th minute, then shot high in the 53rd minute.

South Korea, who beat Hong Kong, China 2-0 last Wednesday, produced 13 shots with two on goal.

At an early kick-off of the day, South Korea women's side beat Chinese Taipei 3-0 to notch up their first win of the tournament.
