Other than the polar bear and Arctic fox, there is another animal that loves snow – the Arctic hare.

The Arctic hare, one of the largest living lagomorphs, is highly adapted to the environment of the Arctic tundra. Unlike other rabbits, the Arctic hare has characteristics that are perfect for living in snow, including their significant body fat, long hind legs and heavy fur. The Arctic hare has close to 20% body fat. When it needs to keep warm or sleep, it simply digs holes in the snow to hide.

In order to survive winter, Arctic hares eat woody plants, mosses and willow for food. They use their long hind legs to dig through the snow to find food in winter. In other seasons, they love to eat buds, berries and leaves.
