China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) not only promotes cooperation between the two sides but also serves as a great platform for promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs), said Portuguese Communist Party General Secretary Jeronimo de Sousa during an interview.
According to China's Ministry of Commerce, trade between China and the PSCs has grown rapidly during these years.
In 2003, the trade value was over 11 billion U.S. dollars. In 2018, the trade value amounted to 147.35 billion dollars. Of the total, China imported goods worth 105.51 billion U.S. dollars from the PSCs and exported goods valuing 41.848 billion U.S. dollars.

De Sousa said the policy of "One Country, Two Systems" integrates China's national conditions and historical path, and major progress has been made in China's peaceful reunification due to this policy.
The Chinese people have had the best say in Macao's development over the past 20 years, he added.
Commenting on recent situation in China's Hong Kong SAR, he noted that some Western countries interfered in China's internal affairs and their real purpose is to seek their own interests.
