England's Fallon Sherrock created history as she became the first woman to beat a man at the PDC World Darts Championship. Sherrock beat Ted Evetts 3-2 at the prestigious event at London's Alexandra Palace on Tuesday to break the glass ceiling of international Darts. The former BDO Women's World Championship runner-up notched up a remarkable victory after losing the opening set against her 22-year-old rival.

The 25-year-old trailed 2-1 but emphatically bounced back to seal victory, landing six 180s with a 91.12 average. The home crowd burst into cheers when her dart landed in the double 18 to finish as she accomplished the historic feat of winning against a man.

"I'm buzzing! I can't believe I've made history tonight... done it for the girls, that was amazing," Sherrock tweeted after winning the jaw-dropping encounter.

"I have proved that we can play the men and can beat them," the woman from Milton Keynes, a 2,000-1 title shot, said after her triumph in the battle of sexes. Interestingly, Sherrock, along with Japan's Mikuru Suzuki, was one of the two women to qualify for the tournament featuring 96 players. Earlier, Suzuki went down fighting against James Richardson after losing a deciding leg before 3-2 on Sunday.

"I feel really happy because I have made something for women's darts," she said. "I can't believe it. To do that on the biggest stage, wow. I am so happy that I can continue," Sherrock, who now faces Austrian Mensur Suljovic in the second round, added after writing her name into the history books.
