The competition event names for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics have been officially confirmed by the Beijing Winter Olympics organizing committee.
Together with the Chinese names, the English and French names have also been confirmed for the competition events. Both the Chinese and English names have been confirmed for the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics.
The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has seven sports, including skiing, skating, ice hockey, curling, bobsleigh, luge and biathlon; 15 disciplines: alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboard, ski jumping, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, short track, speed skating, figure skating, ice hockey, curling, bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, and biathlon; with a total 109 events.
Seven new events will be included in the games, including the women's monobob, freeski men's and women's big air.
Meanwhile, the 2022 Paralympic Winter Games will have 78 events.
China sent 82 athletes, 36 men and 46 women, to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in 2018, competing in 55 events.
For the next Winter Olympics, Chinese athletes will try to qualify for all 109 events in Beijing.
