As the floral emblem of Macao, the lotus is widely beloved by the local residents. The flower symbolizes purity and grace and is usually found in white or pink color. They grow in murky and shallow waters and enjoy warm sunlight. Its petals have a waxy coating that can shed dirt and water, so the flower looks clean even after blooming out of muddy waters.
