The third annual World Taekwondo Grand Slam Champions Series ended on Friday in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, where home favorite Liang Yushuai won bronze in the men's 58 kilogram division after beating Jung chan ho of South Korea.

19-year-old Liang stormed the opener with a nice kick, right into his opponent's head. He went on to wrap up the first two contests, while Jung fought back by winning seven straight points in the third. Later the South Korean pulls one back.

The home favorite then adjusted his form and used his physical advantage to seal the fourth and the contest 3-1.

In the title contest, South Korea's Bae Seo-jun beat fellow South Korean Lee Min-yeong 2-1 to claim gold. The Korean duo presented a thrilling final for spectators, but it was Bae who was ultimately victorious, and grabbed his first medal since the inaugural Grand Slam Champion Series in 2017.

On the women's side, China's Zheng Shuyin beats Madelynn Gorman-Shore from the USA in a marginal 2-1 victory to see the hosts bag the final bronze medal of the competition. Lee Da bin secured gold against Bianca Walkden of Great Britain by winning 2-1. Walkden, who was Grand Slam gold medalist at the previous two Champion Series, had her winning streak ended by Lee, who had never previously won a medal at a Grand Slam Champion Series.

China bagged one gold medal, two silvers, and six bronzes in this event in total.

The Grand Slam Champions Series grants eight qualifications of Tokyo Qualifications, among which one went to Rio Olympics champion Zhao Shuai, one to 20-year-old Zhou Lijun, who defeated two-time Olympic champion Jade Jones of Britain in the finals of women's -57kg division.
