Born in Mumbai, Anish Kapoor has lived and worked in London since the early 1970s. Before he came to London, he studied electrical engineering, but he knew from the first day that it was not for him. He eventually found his purpose in life, through art. At art school, he realized almost immediately that he wanted to make physical objects. He has pursued this ambition ever since with single-minded determination.
