Winter Solstice falls on December 22 as the 22nd Chinese solar term of the year, after "Major Snow." It marks the shortest day in the Northern Hemisphere.
As the winter season takes hold, scenic spots in China have been blanketed with snow.
Xiannyu Mountain in Wulong District of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality saw its first big bout of snow on Friday, turning the popular spot into a winter wonderland.
Meanwhile, a thick layer of snow around the Rentouzhai scenic spot in the municipality's Kaizhou District turned the forest into a fantastic painting.
