The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has been applied in disaster prevention, transportation and tourism in southwest China's Guizhou Province, the province's information center said Sunday.
According to the center, more than 4,000 sets of disaster prevention equipment were installed and 29 geological disaster forecast devices built or renovated, which have already helped forecast geological disasters.
Over 60,000 sets of equipment were developed and applied to help ease traffic congestion, accident reduction and emergency rescue. More than 10,000 pieces of equipment at scenic spots and travel agencies are pushing forward smarter tourism.
BeiDou's comprehensive application demonstration project started construction in 2014 with a total investment of 160 million yuan (about 22.8 million U.S. dollars). It passed the national acceptance review last month.
