Can we say no need for concern on meal replacements' safety & effectiveness?

Both international and domestic companies want a piece of the meal replacement pie in China. According to a recent report by CBNData and T-mall Alibaba, sales volume in 2019 rose 50 percent compared to last year. Millennials remain the major force, but Generation Z contributed to most of the sales growth in 2018.  Powder and drinks are the most common products, but new products keep coming as they tend to be more profitable. Statistics show products such as yogurt and energy bars are usually priced 40 to 200 percent above the average.  Are these meal replacements safe and effective? Also, we have seen some cases where users get serious organ diseases, while the market is largely unregulated. What should the government do? Feng-yuan Liu, an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and also the CEO of Metro Dietetics,  gives her insights via Skype from Melbourne, Australia.
