Five Hong Kong young people were picked to work in different departments at the United Nations (UN) in a two-year program next year, marking the first time Hong Kong youths take part in the UN Junior Professional Officer (JPO) Program.
Xie Feng, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), congratulated the five young professionals, noting that it is a small step for their personal careers but a big one for local young people to participate in national diplomacy and global governance.
The launch ceremony of the first batch of HKSAR JPO recommended by the central government to the UN was held by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on Monday.
