China's top legal body said its recent reforms in cross-regional case filing have been fully implemented in basic and intermediate courts. The measure effectively allows litigants to initiate a lawsuit in the court closest to their home, even when it has no jurisdiction to hear the dispute. It was a key requirement raised by Chinese President Xi Jinping during a conference on political and legal work early last year. The Supreme People's Court said it would continue to improve the supervision and efficiency of the service. Since July, courts across the country have handled 20,000 such cases, drastically speeding up the legal process.
