Mario Mandzukic has completed his move from Juventus to Al-Duhail, the Qatari side announced the signing on their official website on Tuesday.

"The team's management succeeded today in contracting with the Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic of Juventus in a free transfer deal after the end of his contract with his Italian team," Al-Duhail said.

The 33-year-old veteran, who was a World Cup runner-up with Croatia in 2018, has been linked with Manchester United, but according to ESPN, the Premier League giants backed out of a move due to Juventus' asking price and the forward's wage demands.

Mandzukic's exit for Juventus appeared inevitable after the Italian champions' boss Maurizio Sarri lost trust in him. The Croat failed to feature for the first team so far this season and saw the writing on the wall earlier this month when he was excluded from the club's Christmas celebrations.

Mario Mandzukic's move to Al-Duhail ends speculation that the 33-year-old was a possible target for Manchester United.

Under previous head coach Massimiliano Allegri, Mandzukic played a huge role in Juventus' fantastic trophy-winning run, scoring a stunning bicycle-kick in the 2017 Champions League final against Real Madrid. He has won four Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia crowns during his stint at the club.

Al-Duhail currently sit at the top of the Qatar Stars League table after 11 matches.
