Despite frigid winter cold, there's an unfrozen section of the Khalkhyn Gol River in the city of Arxan, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
This geothermally-affected, 20-kilometer section never freezes even when the air temperature drops to as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. At the bottom of the river section, there are still green weeds, which are natural forage for cattle, sheep and other livestock.
