AIIB has 57 founding members and has recently grown to 100 approved members. Its members collectively account for 78 percent of the world's population and 63 percent of the global GDP. So far, the bank has approved 63 projects, in areas including transport, energy, urban development, water supply, sanitation and renewable energy. The bank's total investments are over 12 billion U.S. dollars.
