Two gentoo penguins were hatched in an aquarium, making them the first of their species to be artificially incubated in landlocked southwest China. The breeders said the penguin couple started nesting in September and laid eggs in mid-November. It usually takes some 35 days for a gentoo penguin to hatch its egg, so to increase the chances of hatching success, the breeders moved the eggs into an artificial incubation box.
