Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho topped the list of 2019's biggest market value losers as his worth dropped by 70 million euros (about 77.63 million U.S. dollars), according to German football website Transfermarkt. However, he may have bigger concerns.
Bayern Munich, which landed Coutinho on loan from Barcelona, do not seem to be interested in paying 120 million euros (about 133 million U.S. dollars) to make him a formal member of the club.
Coutinho arrived in Europe in 2010 and Inter Milan was his first stop. Though the Brazilian had impressive skills, he did not get many chances in the Italian club before Liverpool brought him to Anfield with just 13 million euros (about 14.41 million U.S. dollars).

In the six seasons he spent in Premier League, Coutinho grew to become a world-class midfielder with amazing orchestrating ability and long range shooting. Meanwhile, his great performance drew the attention of Barcelona that kept looking for replacements for Neymar.
On January 6, 2018, Barcelona introduced Coutinho with 145 million euros (about 161 million U.S. dollars), hoping that he can make a new sharp offensive group with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Nonetheless, Coutinho was never able to fit in Barcelona's system. He needs to dribble the ball to seek opportunities but Messi needs that too. He is not fast enough to outflank him either. Having lost confidence in him, Barcelona sent him to Bayern Munich via loan.
In spite of his occasional highlights, Coutinho failed to impress the German heavyweight enough so he could stay. Multiple reports revealed that three English clubs, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all chasing the Brazilian midfielder but it's hard to imagine that they will be willing to pay over 100 million euros (about 111 million U.S. dollars) for him. However, considering that Barcelona are still trying to fund for the purchase of Neymar, how much they are willing to compromise remains to be seen.
