The Expansion of the Liu Fang Yuan Garden, in Los Angeles, was completed on December 4, 2019, making it the largest Chinese-style garden outside China.
Located at the Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens, Liu Fang Yuan Garden is considered the "Sister Garden" of Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou, a city often dubbed the "Venice of China." Liu Fang Yuan Garden is a cross-cultural effort. It combines the botanical with the artistic and scholarly, representing 14 years of joint efforts by architects and artisans from China and America.
In the video, Gu Weihua, 62, the oldest Chinese architects involved in the expansion project, unveils the interesting, but unknown stories shared with Anthony, his 23 years old American apprentice.
