Six members of a family were killed in a fire that engulfed a residential building in Fuling District in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Monday, according to the Beijing Youth Daily (BYD).

Local authorities said the fire broke out on the twelfth floor of the building at around 6:40 a.m. BJT and was extinguished an hour later. 

A video showing a dozen people lifting a parked car that seems to have been blocking the way to the scene of the fire was posted on Weibo after the incident. However, the local fire department said the fire-fighting effort was not affected, reported the BYD.  

Aftercare has been provided for those injured in the fire, and an investigation into its cause is underway.
