In Baghdad, protests outside the U.S. embassy continue for a second day. Demonstrators hurled stones over embassy walls, as security forces fire tear gas and stun grenades to disperse them. On Tuesday, hundreds of protesters stormed the American embassy, angry over the U.S. airstrike that killed militia members in Iraq on Sunday. They broke into the compound and set fire on embassy grounds. Washington has deployed about 750 soldiers to the Middle East in response to the violent protests. It says additional forces could be sent over the next several days, if necessary. U.S. President Donald Trump spoke about the incident to the press on New Year's Eve.
