Ten thousand horses galloping in snow-covered grassland

It is rare to see ten thousand horses galloping together. But in the Yili horse-breeding base in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, it is part of the local life and a tourism program.

This grand event set in snow-covered grassland is held from time to time as part of the tourism program during the winter tourism season.

Zhaosu County, situated in southern Ili River valley, is dubbed by Chinese people as the "Home to Horses from Heaven." These horses are fed in stables most of the time. But herdsmen occasionally release them to run on the vast grassland to exercise, an occasion that has gradually become one of the main attractions for tourists.
