The University of Macau (UM) is located in the east of Hengqin Island, Guangdong Province, on a piece of land leased to the Macao SAR government but under the jurisdiction of Macao since 2014. The UM is the only public comprehensive university in Macao. It has made significant achievements in the fields of Chinese medicine, Portuguese and applied physics and materials engineering.
