At this time of the year, many holidaymakers either opt for ice and snow in northeastern China or embrace the balmy weather in south China. When it comes to the latter, Hainan Province, China's beautiful tropical island, stands at the top of the list.
In recent years, the Boao Forum for Asia's (BFA) annual conference has brought new tourism opportunities for the coastal township of Boao in Hainan. This episode heads to an idyllic farming village that is just an hour's drive away from there.
Beireng Village is located in the township of Jiaji, Qionghai City, south China's Hainan Province.
Beireng Village was one of many little known villages in rural China until development of the beautiful countryside helped the village to upgrade its overall infrastructure and attract visitors. However, despite the upgrades, the village never lost its cultural elements and local characteristics.
The village rose to fame in 2015 during the BFA when China's first lady Peng Liyuan invited several international guests to visit the village and enjoy the local hospitality and rustic charm. Since then, Beireng Village has witnessed larger tourist crowds each year.

Today Beireng Village has become a spot for agritainment, drawing numerous visitors to its rural landscape and rustic farmhouses. Areca catechu and rubber trees are abundant there, as they are major commercial crops for the locals. By exploring the country lanes, visitors can catch a glimpse of the traditional way of life.
The Guantang Hot Spring Resort, Wanquan River and Baishiling Scenic Area are some of the visit-worthy sites surrounding the village, perfect for family and friends gatherings.
