Iraqi PM condemns 'assassination'

Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has condemned the "assassination" of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The strike was "a dangerous escalation that is the spark of a devastating war in Iraq," said the prime minister.

He added that the strike violated conditions for U.S. military presence in Iraq and called on parliament to hold an extraordinary session.
