China has striven to lift its people out of poverty. Poverty reduction programs have been enacted in places with extreme poverty like Lanping County in southwestern Yunnan Province. As a result, public service standards have been improved, safe drinking water, power grids and new schools have been built, and new achievements have been made in ecological construction.
