Iraq holds funeral for commanders killed in U.S. airstrike

Iraq held a funeral for Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and top Iranian commander General Qasem Soleimani on Saturday.

Early on Friday, Soleimani, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, and al-Muhandis, deputy chief of Iraq's paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces, were killed in a U.S. airstrike near Baghdad International Airport, in a dramatic escalation of tensions across the Middle East.
