Common Destiny: From Chinese sci-fi movies to China-U.S. cultural collaborations

Chinese film director Guo Fan has been called "the pioneer of China's heavy industry sci-fi movies," because his movie, "The Wandering Earth," is being dubbed "a milestone of China's film making history" grossing over 650 million U.S. dollars worldwide.

As Chinese movies go global, China is also welcoming numerous foreign motion pictures into its market, allowing global filmmakers to achieve huge earnings. Beyond film, China's cultural interactions with the U.S. have expanded to almost every other sector, after the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations in 1979.
