Since the end of October, some 120,000 migratory birds of over 20 species have arrived in the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve in Dongying City, east China's Shandong Province, to spend the winter.

The birds include mallard, pochard, spot-billed duck, ruddy shelduck as well as swans and others. They are seen swimming in water, foraging and hovering in the sky.

The reserve, also known as an "international airport" for migratory birds, is one of the most important transit stops, with well-preserved wetlands and other favorable habitats for the birds. It offers wintering sites and breeding places for birds from Northeast Asia and the Western Pacific Rim.
