Funeral processions are underway in Iran for Qasem Soleimani, the country's powerful and revered military commander who was killed on January 3 in a U.S. drone strike in Baghdad. The first procession took place in Ahvaz after which his body was taken to Imam Reza's shrine in Mashhad and then flown to Tehran where the country's supreme leader Ali Khamenei paid tribute to the general. Soleimani's body is due to be transported to the holy city of Qom, and finally to his hometown of Kerman for burial.
