Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is heading to Africa in his first overseas trip of 2020. Wang will pay official visits to Egypt, Djibouti, Eritrea, Burundi and Zimbabwe from January 7 to 13. This is the 30th year in a row for a Chinese foreign minister to visit the African continent at the start of the year, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
