Pingshan Village is nestled in the foothills of Huangshan in eastern China's Anhui Province. You can spot authentic Hui-style architecture here. And from the outside, that's what this hotel appears to be. But stepping inside, you'll find the structure has a whimsical twist.

The hotel décor is a diverse collection of artifacts amassed over the years from all over the world. There are trinkets collected from street fairs in America, antique tiles sourced from France, and centuries-old memorabilia from China. All of these touches create an interior design that feels eccentric yet artistic.

And because of the family's film background, it's no surprise that they've paid special attention to the lighting, making the accommodation feel like a movie set. While it's not what one would expect to find within these weather-worn walls, it somehow works perfectly, creating a juxtaposition of traditional Chinese architecture on the outside and a modern East-meets-West design on the inside.
