At the Great Hall of the People, President Xi Jinping first presented China's top science award, the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, to Huang Xuhua, chief designer of China's first-generation nuclear submarine, and Zeng Qingcun, a meteorologist from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
