Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with Burundi's Second Vice President Joseph Butore. Butore spoke highly of ties with China, stressing Burundi will not change its friendly policy. 

Wang said a high level of mutual trust between the countries has provided an important impetus for cooperation. Wang added the two sides should work more closely to safeguard the common interests of developing countries. 

Burundi is one of Wang's destinations on his first visit to Africa in the new year, a long-standing tradition for the Chinese foreign minister.
