A forest of pond cypresses in a reservoir in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has added a pop of color to the winter scenery.

With the arrival of winter, the reservoir, which contains nearly 120 hectares of pond cypress trees, became a palette of colors as the tree leaves turned to yellow and red, decorating the area with a magnificent view.

Chongqing started planting pond cypresses in 2009 with the aim of restoring and improving the local ecological environment. The colored forest not only presents the area with beautiful scenery, but also helps stabilize the soil.
