The number of patent applications filed by foreign companies has kept rising. China's National Intellectual Property Administration says foreign companies filed over 150,000 patents last year, up by six percent year-on-year. Japan, U.S. and Germany were the top three foreign applicants. Professor John Gong from the University of International Business and Economics says that should be attributed to China's opening-up policy.
