Construction of one of the world's longest span suspension bridges has passed a major milestone with the Jin'an Jinshajiang Bridge in southwest China's Yunnan Province completing closure on Wednesday, signifying a big step towards the completion of the mega-construction project.

The steel-girder suspension bridge has a main span of 1,386 meters and will be the world's largest span suspension bridge in a mountainous region once completed later this year. Located across the famous Tiger Leaping Gorge, the bridge has a maximum vertical-drop distance of 330 meters between the bridge deck and the Jinsha River below, with the distance between the top of its main tower and the river surface reaching 500 meters.
