China and Myanmar have enjoyed a long-term diplomatic relationship going back to the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-220 A.D.). People of the two countries define each other as "baukpaw," meaning "brothers." Sino-Myanmar diplomatic relationship has 70 years (1950-2020).

On Myanmar President U Win Myint's invitation, Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to pay a state visit on January 17 and 18 to the country. It will be the first state visit by a Chinese president in 19 years.
