If you have to pick a turning point for Carmelo Anthony's career, joining the Rockets could not be missed because it almost put an early end to his career. On Wednesday, Anthony returned to the Toyota Center as a Trail Blazer and got the best vengeance on the Rockets.

Russell Westbrook came back for Houston in this game and he did well by dropping a triple-double of 31 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists. However, the team's other franchise player James Harden was struggling in offense to get only 12 points via a 3-12 shooting performance. Though Houston as a whole buried 16 3-pointers in the game, they could not reverse the situation.

By contrast, C.J. McCollum scored 24 points, six assists as he always did for the Trail Blazers. Damian Lillard had a similar disappointing first half like Harden but exploded in the third quarter by putting down 14 points. Anthony took advantage of his strong body and created quite a mess on Houston's defense via posting-up isolation plays in the first half and made a valuable triple in the fourth quarter when Houston narrowed the score difference down to five points.

"It was a great win man, that's all I can say," said Anthony after the game.

"Melo's been great for us. He's about the right things. He's about winning, he wants to win. I think for him, being a part of a win like this is probably more important regardless of who it's against," said Terry Stotts, head coach of the Trail Blazers.

This was the fourth straight game of played by the Lakers without Anthony Davis, the team failed to extend their winning streak after suffering a home loss to the Magic at the Staples Center. It's also the first for the purple and gold to lose to a team that hasn't reached 50 percent in winning rate.

LeBron James scored 19 points and 19 assists in the game but he only started to take over offense in the second half. The Lakers' bench squad again made incredible performance by getting 68 points yet their efforts were beaten by Orlando's four starters – Aaron Gordon, Nikola Vucevic, Markelle Fultz and Wesley Iwundu – who had 80 points together.

The first-overall select of the 2017 NBA Draft Fultz continued to improve his game. Not only did he put down his first triple-double (21 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists) this season, he also got four valuable consecutive points in the last minute of the game to help the Magic regain the lead and pocket the win.

After making his last shot in front of James, Fultz had a cramp in his leg but his efforts were worth it because the 21-year-old guard is slowly but surely, finding the genius who carried a lot of expectations back.

Pistons fans found a good reason to be happy on Wednesday, not only because their team finally put an end to the three-straight-loss streak, but also for the fact that the Pistons did it at the TD Garden, the home court of the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference.

Detroit's bench unit made key contributions as Markieff Morris and Svi Mykhailiuk scored 23 and 21 points respectively. Derrick Rose, the team's former ace on the bench, was put into the starting lineup and responded to the team's trust with 22 points and six assists. This is already Rose's seventh 20+point game in a row and he did it by making all 11 two-point field-goal shots.

Before Wednesday's game, the Pistons already announced that they are open to negotiating trade over all of their players, including the two maximum-contract holders, Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond, and Rose who many saw as a major candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award this season.

Needless to say, such an impressive performance in recent games could only make Rose more valuable.

Luka Doncic created another NBA record after he led the Mavericks to edge out the Kings at the Golden 1 Center. The 20-year-old put down the 20th triple-double of his career, a quite big one of 25 points, 15 rebounds and 17 assists.

Furthermore, Doncic did it at the age of 20 years and 321 days old, surpassing Magic Johnson who had 33 points, 15 rebounds, 17 assists in 1981 at the age of 21 years and 227 days old, to become the youngest player in NBA history to get 20+15+15 in the game.

"Obviously, not as good as I can play. I have to practice those 3s. They were doubling me every time, and I like it. Basketball is five players so somebody's going to be open if they double me," said Doncic after the game.
