2020 Spring Festival Web Gala greets young audience on Little New Year Day

The 2020 Spring Festival Web Gala, produced by China Media Group, will meet the audience this Friday evening on CCTV-3 channel, multiple mobile apps, and web platforms, in celebration of "Little New Year Day."

Traditionally, today marks the "Little New Year Day," or "Xiaonian" in Chinese, in northern China, just a week before the Lunar New Year's eve. According to the traditional calendar, on this day, people start preparing for the New Year celebrations. 

This year's gala will be a carnival for the youth full of technology and artistic creativity, hosted by popular CCTV hosts Nigemaiti Reheman, Long Yang, Gao Bo, and Yu Xiwen.

Renowned CCTV anchors Kang Hui and Zhu Guangquan are joining Reheman to present a special section called "My 2019." 

The three enjoy great popularity among the Chinese audience, young and old alike, for their smart comments, earning them the name "CCTV Boys" by netizens. 

At the grand gala, the digital portraits of Chinese youth will be unveiled, based on big data analysis, presenting collective memories shared by Chinese youth.

Young talents and pop stars, such as talented singer Henry Lau and young actor Xu Weizhou, are gearing up to offer their best for the highly anticipated show, with some internet influencers and famous vloggers joining the cast.

The show, widely regarded as a party for youth and netizens, will also present special collaborations between celebrities and icons in different industries from all over China.

For instance, up-and-coming actor Du Jiang, who played a firefighter in the film "The Bravest," will sing the salute song of "Aspire To Glory" with the real walking-to-fire heroes from Beijing Fire Rescue Corps.

Hot issues, popular songs, street dance and trendy lines on social media will be featured at the gala through cutting edge technology, stunning stage designs, and creative performance forms.

A promotion trailer of the web gala released recently revealed that cyberspace and red lanterns are the main elements of the stage design.

The theme song "My New Year Wishes" was also published with a video showing a gesture dance entitled "2020, Let's Win," which soon went viral with thousands of people posting their own versions of the video.
