Hulun Lake is the fifth largest lake in China and the largest lake in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 

In mid-April each year, spectacular scenes of ice cracking appear in Hulun Lake.

Ice cracks are pushed and squeezed by a strong natural force to form ridges of ice walls.
