Death toll from Turkey earthquake rises to 35, over 1,600 injured

In Turkey, the death toll from a powerful earthquake which struck the east of the country has risen to 35. The  magnitude-6.8 quake hit on January 24, with its epicenter in Elazig province but it also affected neighboring countries. Rescue workers are having to work in sub-zero temperatures with drills, mechanical diggers and their bare hands to search for survivors. More than 1,600 people were injured.
