A major French automaker said Sunday that they are moving to get expat staff and their families from the Wuhan area in central China, which is at the center of an outbreak of coronavirus.

"GroupePSA has decided to repatriate its expatriates and their families who are in Wuhan area and has put in place the appropriate measures in full collaboration with the Chinese authorities and the French general consulate," according to a tweet posted by French automaker PSA Group on Sunday.

The French firm, which makes brands including Peugeot and Citroen, said in a series of tweets that the evacuated employees and their families will be quarantined in the city of Changsha before traveling back to their home countries.

Transportation, housing and other organizational considerations are being worked out. It did not say how many employees would be evacuated.

PSA, which has a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp in Wuhan, also said it is working with its Chinese partner and authorities to take care of the Chinese employees.

The announcement came a day after France announced that three cases of coronavirus are being treated in two French hospitals. All the patients are Chinese who had recently returned from China and are doing well, officials said
